Hello to all the DEE Followers and thank you so much for your support! This article is mainly for all the beginners and those of you who want to join the world of the horse or rather the equestrian lifestyle. Be it for sports, leisure or profession, these are some basic pointers to get you in the right gear (fashionably so) and ready to ride.

1. Basic Horse-Riding Clothing for Beginners

When starting out with horse riding, it's important to have the right gear to ensure both comfort and safety. Here are the essentials you need to buy:

- Riding Pants/Breggings/Jodhpurs:

Invest in a good pair of riding pants, jodhpurs (jods) or breggings. Silicone-enhanced pants are particularly recommended as they help riders stick to the saddle, providing better grip and reduce the risk of slipping. Think of them like the tyres on your car. They are what gets you to stick to your seat.

- Gloves:

Dedicated horse-riding gloves are essential to protect your hands. They are designed to offer better grip on the reins, help prevent blisters and ensure a more comfortableride whilst still offering enough tactile feedback for you to feel and control your horse.

- Helmet:

Falling off a horse can happen to riders of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals. A high-quality riding helmet is therefore a necessity. The reality about riding horses is that you will fall off, more than once. It is highly recommended to invest in your own helmet rather than using riding school helmets to ensure proper fit and safety.

- Riding Boots:

Riding boots are part of your safety equipment. They can either be long or short boots, depending on your preference and comfort. What most riding boots offer is a reinforced toe design for the inevitable hoof landing on your foot. The heel prevents your foot from slipping through the stirrups and long boots help prevent chafing and pinching from the stirrup leathers.
